REGISTRATION SCHOLARSHIP

Sponsored by Northrop Grumman

CSTA is pleased to announce that, through the generosity of a grant provided by Northrop Grumman, we will be offering 6 science teachers in their first through fifth years of teaching a scholarship to attend the 2010 California Science Education Conference in Sacramento.

Application Period:

  • Applications will be accepted June 1, 2010 - September 1, 2010.
  • Applications must be received on or before September 1, 2010. Applications postmarked September 1, 2010 but received after that date will not be considered.

Applicant Criteria:

  • Science teacher in a diverse student population Elementary or Middle School.
  • Science teacher in their first five years of teaching.
  • Teacher has received approval to be absent from the classroom on Friday, October 22, 2010 for purposes of attending the California Science Education Conference.
  • Past recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to apply.

Application Procedure:
Eligible candidates meeting the criteria described above should complete the application and submit all application materials on or before September 1, 2010. Scholarships will not be awarded to multiple teachers from a single school - only one teacher from any one school will receive a scholarship. Scholarships are not awarded on a first-come basis.

Scholarship will cover the following expenses:

  • Full conference registration for the 2010 California Science Education Conference.
  • Up to three nights hotel accommodations at the Sheraton Grand or Hyatt Regency Hotel (Room and Tax only).
  • Choice of ticket for the Mini-University (elementary teachers only) or one of the Pedagogical Focus Seminars (available for elementary and middle school teachers) (optional).
  • One year membership in CSTA (if recipient is not currently a member paid through 11/1/2010).
  • Up to $100 in travel expenses, limited to mileage, airfare, bus, rail, tolls, parking, and airport shuttle. (A reimbursement form will be provided; receipts must be submitted for reimbursement).
    Recipient of Scholarship will be responsible for any and all other expenses including meals and incidentals. There is no compensation for substitute teachers or time off of work.
