Climate Summit

About

California adopted the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in 2013. These standards prominently feature climate science in K-12 with foundational concepts beginning in the primary grades and increasing in depth and sophistication throughout the grade bands. In 2018, the California Science Teachers Association, teamed up with several partners to develop and deliver the 2018 California Science Education Conference Climate Summit. The Summit was intended to enrich the experience and expertise of teachers by providing opportunities for teachers to strengthen their content knowledge and receive support for teaching climate science as envisioned at their grade-level. The Summit included information on how classroom teachers can use resources from informal (out of the classroom) settings to enhance their climate instruction.

The Climate Summit consisted of several components and the resources developed as a part of the project are shared here with the intent of helping educators support and implement climate science education consistent with the California Next Generation Science Standards. Here you will find:
